We all want a blessed life, to be a blessed person We all want a blessed life, to be a blessed person. Our walls, note cards, jewelry, clothes, and trinkets all carry this most beloved word. Yet do we take time to ask ourselves 1. What are blessings? 2. Are there requirements to receive certain blessings? 3. What makes a person blessed? In many ways, we are already blessed...if there's ANYTHING good in our lives, we're blessed because anything good comes from the Father. At the same time, some blessings are not automatic. We need to position ourselves to receive God's blessings and then carry them. What I mean is: blessings can present themselves to us but we must be able to recognize them and have the emotional, mental, and spiritual capacity to receive them. In other words, even if we can identify a blessing presenting itself to us, sometimes our woundings or prejudices result in our rejection of the very things we deeply desire. For example, a friendship that can greatly enhance your life presents itself but emotional woundings and insecurities result in internal thoughts that say you won't be wanted. As a result, you consciously or subconsciously push those relationships away. This is just one example. First, we need to realize that it is God's heart to deeply bless us. It starts with believing in and knowing Jesus by being born again in our spirit. From there, God wants to build a blessed life in each of us. In these verses, we look at the attitudes and choices we make that reveal the characteristics of one who lives in the blessings of the Lord. ------------ For those that are interested in diving deeper, I am going through Proverbs and identifying the attributes of a person who receives many blessings. I'm bringing my long-time work assistant, Mandi, along for fun. 😂 Her skirt is made up of vintage LIFE magazine pages from the 30s-50s. I hope she brings lots of smiles.
